Synopsis
Impetigo is a highly contagious superficial bacterial skin infection, usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes (Group A Beta-Haemolytic Streptococcus/GABHS). There are two main clinical forms of impetigo: crusted (non-bullous) impetigo and bullous impetigo.(1–3) Both are more common in children, but can affect
people of all ages.(3,4)
